Berwick Town Hall Tours

Only guided visits of the building are possible at present.
It is not open for casual visitors without a guide.

The guided visits begin each weekday at 10.30 am and 2.00pm between Easter and the end of September. Tours last 1 to 2 hours. The tours are of the first and second floor of the building with a museum on the second floor which was originally the town’s jail. Booking is not required but if you intend to bring a large group, please contact us in advance.

On the tour you will discover the history of the building including its many uses over the centuries including a court room, a jail, town meetings, a charter market, council chambers, a police station, wedding and event venue.

The museum on the second floor includes a mixture of items from the town’s history, from a Viking era sword to gifts from Berwick’s five twin towns around the world.

Our tour guides have an encyclopaedic knowledge of the building and the town, making the tours a memorable experience.
